○ Atomic Habits & Growth

■ At this current point in time, what specific standards have you set for yourself?

■ How and why did you come to craft these standards?

■ How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving these standards?

■ How do you assess yourself? What adjustments do you make? How often?

Currently, the standards I have set for myself are to further develop my speaking and listening

skills and become better at managing my time and remembering due dates. Another standard I

have set for myself is critically analyzing and interpreting texts. The reason why I set these

standards is because I do not participate much in class, which is something I want to improve in.

I wish to provide meaningful insight in class discussions but I have not been mainly because I

don’t know how to articulate my thoughts and I am shy. I also created a standard to improve

time management and remembering due dates because I forget when blogs are due. I also tend

to procrastinate a lot which causes a lot of unnecessary stress than if I don’t put assignments off

until the last minute. I think the quality of my written work would also improve if I put more time

into them. One thing that I think could help me improve in critically analyzing and interpreting

texts is the College Now course on Sociology I took last year. Sociology is a science that

focuses on our interactions with society, relationships people have with each other, the influence

of culture on our lives, and other things related. Applying the things I learned in that class will

make me better at coming up with connections when reading texts from Modern Mythology.

I demonstrate resilience towards achieving these standards by creating reminders on things I

need to do on a calendar. For longer assignments that I have a larger window of time to work

on, I try to have a set amount of time to work on over a period of days instead of doing it all on

one day at once. I also try to remind myself that I shouldn’t be afraid to contribute in class

discussions and that there is no wrong or right answer when we are sharing our interpretations.

Hopefully it will work and I will increase my engagement in Modern Mythology. I assess myself

when I don’t get mastery on an assignment. The adjustments I make are based off teacher

feedback and I also do it when I don’t feel satisfied with my own work.
