Sept 29th class:

In class today we took a test on our knowledge of the critical theories. The critical theories are lenses in which help contextualize texts and each one is unique in its perspective of a text. Some lenses include, psychoanalytic lens, post modernist lens, and critical race lens. 

Questions were asked at the beginning of class asking for clarification on some of the lenses such as reader response theory and then we began the quiz.

The quiz:

The quiz was completely fair in terms of structure as everything discussed in class was on the quiz. The quiz consisted of a multiple choice section which asked us to differentiate between the different lenses and a short response section as well. The short response question asked readers to pick a fairy tale and look at it through a lens of their choosing. It asked for how the story fitted the lens, a counterpoint, and finally why the lens was important. 

Reflection: Overall, I think this unit about the critical lens was important as it helps readers find a new point of view on certain texts and also it shows the reader a vast array of tools that can be used to help interpret the texts we read in class.
