Vitaly Podvorchan, Period 7, 11/3/22

Vitaly Podvorchan 11/3/2022 Period 7

Atomic Habits and growth

I have never been good with deadlines. I can't even blame my faulty motivation on this, I'm just a very forgetful person. At some points I believe I genuinely have short term memory loss, but maybe its just a combination of a lack of sleep with over exposure to the internet. It becomes an infinite cycle where I tell myself “Set up a reminder for this thing!” and then ironically I forget to set a reminder and consequently forget what I had to do. When I do remember to write something down, I would lazily scribble it into my Notes app on my phone and then AGAIN forget to check the reminder until weeks later and it dawns on me.

I have always been looking for a better way to remind myself of things. I even started watching videos on how to improve my memory but of course they were to no avail. I realized I needed to set an actual possible goal for myself. Instead of trying to remember stuff directly, I need to take a step back and find something that can AID in my memory. This was a much more realistic goal that could be achieved with limited motivation. I set out to look for a good app that could remind me of my targets and homeworks. From this I found the app Notion. I don't want this blog post to sound like I’m sponsored by this free app, but it truly has changed my grades for the better.

The versatility of being able to make a custom template lets my creativity shine and keep me motivated. As dumb as it is, being able to load up the app and see reminders along with pictures from my favorite books keep me on task of things. I'm motivated to continue to add reminders to my Notion, to make it look even more aesthetically pleasing so whenever I open it I can find myself humored by what I wrote the last day. I was able to resolve my goal by not focusing on the main problem at hand, but finding things that work towards the problems. The smaller steps in life are needed to keep you moving forward.
