Goal Setting & Growth

At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why?

Looking back at my first blog about my goals, it's safe to say that I’m satisfied with the completion and work I produced for my college applications, but my school work is not to be desired. With that being said, I intend to continue to stay motivated and focused, and also intend to improve my daily habits and routines. Oftentimes I find myself sleeping late, waking up tired, and lacking energy. This consequently leads to me having trouble focusing and hinders the quality of my school work. If I improve my sleeping habits, it will allow me to dedicate more quality time to my school work because most of the time when I’m tired, I can only think about sleeping and find it harder to have thoughts. So I want to improve my sleeping habits in order to resolve these problems as they are important in completing my other goals such as staying motivated and focused.

How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal? (or these goals?)

Since I don’t like taking naps in the middle of the day, the only way to fix my sleeping habits is either sleeping earlier or sleeping more. I’ve taken the approach of gradually sleeping earlier each day because it is more suited for school and sleeping more is better suited for the weekends. So far sleeping earlier has helped as I have been able to focus more and have more energy. Also, in order to improve my sleeping habits, I have been trying to do all my school work earlier so I can sleep earlier, and when I don’t have any school work, I am also able to sleep earlier. Lastly, I have been planning my day so I have enough time to balance my school work, free time, and sleep. Some days I follow my plan and some days I don’t follow my plan. Everything I’ve been trying to do is a work in progress in order to accomplish my goals.

How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal? (or these goals?)

Depending on the season and weather, I feel that it affects my energy and sometimes even my mood. Although I’m responsible for my own decisions, when I text or play games with my friends, I often lose track of time. Also when I’m playing games with them, they keep on encouraging me to play more even though it may be late. Most of the time I would accept because I usually won’t have school the next day and won’t have to worry about losing out on sleep. Lastly, when there is a long break, I tend to have the habit of progressively sleeping and waking up later, which eventually leads to me sleeping really late and not getting enough sleep when school begins again.
