Carina Liu, Period 2, 5/1/23

Creativity & Fiction

Craft a piece of FAN fiction related to any of the reading we’ve done in class that addresses one or more of the following:
  • Literary elements (i.e. structure, tone, diction, mood, irony, and figurative language) to craft a narrative
Claudia was born into a wealthy family in New Orleans. Her parents loved and spoiled her and lived a seemingly perfect life, but her reality was far from perfect. She was a sickly child, always weak and frail, and her parents feared that she wouldn’t survive past childhood. This was until one day, a vampire named Lestat stumbled upon Claudia’s home, and was drawn to her delicate beauty. He saw potential in her, and after killing her parents, he turned her into a vampire, hoping to create a companion who would be eternally loyal to him.

Claudia was initially excited about her new life, but she soon realized that being a child vampire came with its own set of challenges. She was trapped in a small, fragile body and was unable to grow and mature like a normal child. She was forever stuck in a child's body, and this often left her feeling helpless and frustrated. Her intelligence was far beyond her physical capabilities, and she often had to rely on manipulation and cunning to get what she wanted. One of Claudia's biggest desires was to find other child vampires like herself. She believed that with others like her, she would finally be able to find companionship and a sense of belonging

One day, Claudia stumbled upon a young boy who was dying of a terminal illness. She was struck by his innocence, and his cruel fate. Selfishly, Claudia realized that she could “use her powers for good” and decided to save the boy by turning him into a vampire. In reality, she longed for newness, anything that would break her out of her never-ending cycle of loneliness, pain, and suffering.

Who are you? Help me! I am so thirsty!

Adam was initially hesitant and fearful of his new existence as a vampire. Although Claudia carefully mentored him and taught him everything she knew about the vampire world, he grew frustrated, and began to hate her. He rebelled against her, fought her, and wanted nothing to do with her.

Why would you do this to me?? I hate being a vampire, I don’t want to drink blood!

Being a vampire with an adult mind, stuck in a child’s body, Adam soon began to feel the dread and loneliness that Claudia felt. As time passed, the two grew closer. Inevitably, the two shared a bond from the solace in having someone who understood each other, like a lonely star finding its constellation in the dark night sky. Together, the two never felt lonely.

For the first time, Claudia and Adam found a way to enjoy their lives as vampires. They enjoyed each other’s company, and started gaining a passion for life again. They traveled the world together, and tried new things. They started to become more human again. And that’s how they found out the way to turn back from a vampire to human. Most vampires descend into a state of exhaustion, and remain the same as time continues to move. By fighting that, and building strong human feelings and emotions, Claudia and Adam were able to break free of the confines of the vampire community.
