Period 5

Modern Mythology 2021

At this current point in time, what specific goal(s) do you have for yourself? Why?

The ability to reflect is often overlooked in today’s world. In all the rush and craziness, we tend to lose sight of what is truly important in our lives. Thanks to Mrs. Fusaro, this blog along with the others I have written serve as a reminder to take a step back and observe what’s going on around me. “Finish strong!” is a common phrase used on the track and is one that accurately portrays my mindset at this current point in time. As my high school days near an end, my focus shifts towards performing well academically and athletically while also showing appreciation to those who have supported me throughout my high school journey. With advanced placement tests right around the corner, the need to study and prepare increases day by day. They pose as the final obstacle I will face as a senior and I look forward to conquering them in June. As a runner, I have learned that satisfaction doesn’t exist on the track. You can always run faster. Unfortunately, since my time on the track team is dwindling down, I have established one last goal to run a mile in less than four minutes and fifty seconds which will allow me to part ways with the sport in peace. Showing appreciation to others is something I have forgotten to do as of lately. I’m blessed to be in the position I am today and wouldn’t be here without my family, friends, teachers, and coaches. It’s crucial that I show gratitude for their presence in my life before I go off to college. Hopefully, when I read this blog again one day, I can smile, knowing that these goals shaped a beautiful ending to my high school career.

How do you demonstrate resilience towards achieving this goal? (or these goals?)

Like anything in life, if you want something, you need to work hard to achieve it. Starting a few weeks ago, I began the process of studying for the AP tests I have to take this year. I organized all my notes and reviewed any topics I struggled with over the course of the year. Since then, I have studied various terms, equations, and graphs for about an hour each day, alternating between AP Macroeconomics, AP Physics 2, and AB Calculus. To go along with this, I have also been pushing myself as a runner for the last two months. I have been training smarter and harder than ever, doing all the little things to make myself the best athlete I can possibly be. With a few more forty-mile-plus weeks of training, there is no doubt that I’ll be in prime shape to run fast. Showing gratitude to others is the easiest goal to achieve in my mind. Mustering up the courage to say “thank you” or “I appreciate you” can go a long way in making someone’s day better and I have been doing this for quite some time now.

How does the world around you affect your perception of this goal? (or these goals?)

The world around me doesn’t affect my perception of these goals. It’s up to me to decide whether I’m willing to work hard or not. If anything, the world around me is helping me achieve these goals. The support from family and friends is something I value greatly and knowing that they are there for me is what pushes me to strive for more in life.
