Creativity & Fiction:
Craft a piece of fiction that addresses one or more of the following:
- Literary elements (i.e. structure, tone, diction, mood, irony, and figurative language) to craft a narrative and/or poetry.
- Structural features of drama (stage directions, character attributions/tags, dialogue, monologues, and/or soliloquies) to craft a script.
- Multidimensional characters to develop themes and create socio-political metaphors.

Burnout
In the corner of her mind where all her memories lie,
There are broken crayons and stardust dreams
Which seem to end before they even begin.
The constellations align to hear
A gurgle of carefree laughter that
Wraps around their heads
Like a string of pearls.

But over the years,
Ink bleeds into watercolor
And joy fades into the background
Where lead grows heavy in her fingers.
The comfort of paper and pen leaves as the crowd dies
And she stumbles through dimly lit art galleries,
Searching for an open door.

Fear holds her hand
And welcomes her like an old friend.
She wonders where all the glory went,
Pinching pennies just to taste
The bread and butter of nine to five.

But still, she wakes up every morning.
She drinks her tea.
She waters her plants.
She walks her dogs.
And that is enough.
