People are tuning into live updates regarding the coronavirus each and every minute of each and every day. The number of people infected in the world has exceeded 1,000,000 and the death toll has reached 54,000. The hospitals in New York have reached the point where they are running out of ventilators, masks, and other medical supplies. They now have to use their discretion to determine who they think they should use the supplies on, and who they think should just basically let die. The federal government has issued a nationwide lockdown. As far as what I learned about the people, I am impressed, but not surprised, by the bravery of my fellow Americans. Essential workers have been working nonstop to keep the country safe and productive during this pandemic. This includes doctors, nurses, police officers, teachers, plumbers, truck drivers, and more. These people put not only their health, but their families’ health in jeopardy by being the heroes that they are. My personal view of what is going on is that I am scared. We do not know much about this virus. Originally we thought it only affected the elderly, but we are seeing more young, healthy people dying. It also bothers me to see people not quarantined just to hang out with their friends when they could possibly be spreading the virus without realizing it. The more people disregard the quarantine, the longer it is going to last.
